IHS expects unfavorable economics for gas power may change plans for European power. Interest is rising in Europe's unconventional gas and Europe's power sector is a large potential market, although facing challenges. The power market is weak in Europe with a significant portion of capacity construction replacing decommissioned plants. In recent years construction of gas power capacity has declined and Poland and Germany drove construction of coal power capacity. Although, more construction is planned in gas as compared to coal [46 GW as compared to 18.99 GW] for 2014 - 2020.
