Dr. Asano is presently an associate vice president, the Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry, a visiting professor, the University of Tokyo, and Professor, Tokyo Institute of Technology. In his multiple capacities, he is engaged in research, teaching and variety of managerial and advisory duties. He served as a tentative Member of Energy Advisory Committee, METI, a WG member of ERAB, a member of adoption of national VPP pilots. He has been undertaking a lot of research projects on demand-side management, systems approaches, power markets, and energy policy analysis since joining the CRIEPI in 1984.
Dr. Asano has been a member of CIGRE, IEEE, and IAEE, a senior member of IEEJ, vice president of JSER.
